St Austell Brewery has announced it is teaming up with a renowned chef to host an evening of food and beer in Cornwall next month.

The popular event, which has sold out in previous years, is back at the Cornish Arms in St Merryn and will welcome Jack Stein, the chief director of Rick Stein Restaurants.

The event will celebrate Cornish food and beer and is aptly being held on St Piran’s Day – Tuesday, March 5 from 7pm.

An exclusive five-course menu has been created to complement St Austell Brewery’s finest brews. The origins and tasting notes of each beer pairing will be shared on the evening by Laura McKay, St Austell Brewery’s marketing and communications director and beer sommelier in training.

Speaking about the return of the event, Laura said: “I am delighted to be back at the Cornish Arms to co-host this special dinner with Jack.

“It’s an evening of good food and beer, great conversation, and plenty of insights into the art of food and beer pairing.”

Laura added: “Diners can expect a variety of beer styles on the night, from Korev – our crip and refreshing lager – through to a Belgian-inspired Tripel. Each beer brings out the flavour in one of the five fishes we have in store.”

With the event less than four weeks away, Jack shared his excitement for the upcoming collaboration. He said: “Having grown up in Cornwall, it’s really exciting to be continuing to work with one of the most successful and well-known brewers in the country.”

The dishes which will be served up during the evening include Cornish fish stew with fired Coombeshead Farm sourdough paired with Hicks strong ale and a rhubarb fool with ginger fairings paired with a punchy Big Job Double IPA.
