Members of the public are now eligible to have their say regarding a proposal for a new toucan crossing on a busy Helston road.
The proposal comes from Cormac Solutions on behalf of Cornwall Council to establish a new toucan crossing on Clodgey Lane, following funding contributions obtained from the developers of the adjacent housing development on Clodgey Lane and Gay’s Hill near Flambards Theme Park.
According to the proposal, the proposed crossing will be approximately 47m southeast of the junction between Clodgey Lane and Clodgey Way, to link to a new path from the housing development to provide a safe crossing route between this and the town centre.
The public is now eligible to have their say on the crossing proposal by either visiting www.cornwall.gov,uk/TrafficConsult or via email by contacting traffic@cormacltd.co.uk and quoting the scheme name and reference, and indicating if you support the proposal or object.

In December 2023, the Packet reported that a new pedestrian and cycle link at the Persimmon housing development site had been approved by Cornwall Council after the announcement in April 2023 that 400 new homes would be built on the land.
The new path is aimed at connecting the development with the existing infrastructure, attaching to a public right of way adjacent to the roundabout next to Premier Inn. The application was also supported by Helston Town Council.
At the time, a spokesperson for Persimmon said: "
Persimmon Homes Cornwall and West Devon technical director Robbie Brown said: “We’re very happy to have secured permission to deliver on the latest part of our plans for Trehenlis Gardens.
“Persimmon is committed to leaving a positive and lasting legacy in Helston and we know that active travel provision is a core part of what communities would like more of.
“We are always working with Cornwall Council officers to ensure our site and its public amenities are of the highest standards and we look forward to continuing in that vein as we make our vision for Helston a reality.”
