More than £7,000 has been awarded to community organisations in and around Helston by Helston Town Council.

The council get together twice a year to award grants to the local organisations and causes that apply for them.

This month, 11 applicants were each awarded the full amount they had applied for.

At Helston Town Council’s latest full meeting, councillors went through each applicant and agreed on whether to support or not support the cause.

However, whilst councillors went through the grant applications, councillors Ronnie Williams and Samuel Ramsden asked if there could be a show of hands from those supporting the applications, rather than just a verbal answer which was agreed upon.

Helston Brownies: Second Unit. Awarded £400.

The brownies were awarded £400.00 to obtain camping equipment as well as to keep future camping trips affordable.
