A dog poo bin which was spoiling a view of a Falmouth beauty spot has been moved after local residents and dog walkers kicked up a stink.

Cornwall Council said it would move the bin after it was placed smack bang in the centre of the view from the bench between Swanpool and Gyllyngvase beaches.

The sudden appearance of the large dog poo bin upset walkers who regularly sit there to admire the view, which they said had now been ruined.

One Falmouth resident was aghast that the bin has been placed directly in front of the seat, which is situated at a popular spot on the coast path between in the town.

Following a request from walkers and town councillor Jude Robinson, the bench has now been moved further down the pathway.

Not only that, the post that had been used to hold the much smaller bin it had replaced following vandalism was also removed.

One of the first to spot that the bin was gone was, regular dog walker with her greyhound Zelda, Cllr Robinson who praised Cornwall Council in a post on Facebook:  "The bin has been moved - even the old post that used to be there with the small bin has gone, so over and above service from Cornwall Council.

"One of the residents who put in a complaint had a reply on February 23 to say the council's Waste Management Team had looked into it and today, just five days later, the bin has moved.

"Even Zelda the greyhound looks happy to see the view. And the bin is only a few feet away so no excuse for anyone to leave litter or bags of dog poo on the ground."

Cornwall Council originally replaced the smaller dog poo bin with the bigger one after the smaller one was vandalised.

In a statement at the time it said: "This bin replaces a smaller bin which was already on this site and had to be removed as it was vandalised and the larger sturdier one was put in place."
