An assault outside a Chinese restaurant left a man so severely injured he was blinded in one eye.

Police were called to the car park of the Jade Palace Chinese restaurant in Roche last Thursday evening following reports of an assault.

They had been told that two men had assaulted another man in the car park around 10.30pm. 

The victim had received a "significant" head injury and, as a result, lost the sight of one of his eyes.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw anything or may have been driving by to come forward.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are investigating an assault which happened in a car park in Roche on Thursday 22 February.

"Officers received reports that two men assaulted another man at around 10.30pm in the car park of ‘Jade Place’ Chinese restaurant.

"The assault resulted in a significant head injury that caused a loss of sight in one of the victim’s eyes.

"Officers are appealing to anyone within the vicinity at the time of the incident or who may have been driving past to come forward.

"Anyone who was in the car park and who may have dash cam is also asked to contact police via 101 or by visiting our website quoting 50240044265."

  • A 24-year-old man from Roche was arrested on suspicion of assault and was released on police bail.
