A missing man in Penryn has been found, it has been confirmed in a sad update.

Earlier a public appeal went out on Facebook to try and locate a man who left his home in the pouring rain in just a T-shirt and bottoms and hasn't been seen since.

Dean Wright from Penryn was considered vulnerable and there are concerns for his safety.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they had been looking for Mr Wright since 12 noon today (Sunday) after he went missing on Saturday.

Mr Wright had last been seen at his home in Penryn on March 9 (Saturday) at 4pm and was said to be only wearing a T-shirt and bottoms, either jeans or jogging bottoms.

He had not made contact since he disappeared and his family said they were becoming increasingly concerned about him.

However, in an update on Facebook this afternoon, Rachel Gerred-Hart said Mr Wright had been found, but it was not the news people had been hoping for.

The post read: "Thank you everyone for your help today. Dean has been found and it wasn't the outcome the family hoped for.

"You're all very much appreciated for every comment and share.

"Hold your loved ones close."

Earlier on the Penryn Legends Facebook page Rachel, posting as Rachel Jeanne Monique, said: "Dean Wright of Penryn is missing. Dean is considered vulnerable and police are conducting searches with dogs being brought in at 12pm today.

"Dean was last seen yesterday circa 4pm and left the house in pouring rain wearing a t shirt and bottoms (I'm unsure if jeans or joggers will update post when I find out) Dean hasn't made contact since.

"Dean is 5'3 to 5'5/5'6 ish. solid build (not fat) short dark greying hair and a full face beard."
