The head chef of a garden centre café set to reopen has revealed what guests can expect when it launches this Saturday.

Trevena Cross Garden Centre in Breage will open its newly named café – The Palm Tree Bistro on Saturday, March 16.

Head chef Dave and sous chef Ricky have spent the past two months working on a new-look menu, sourcing a range of local ingredients, and hiring a team of people to work in the kitchen.

Dave and his team are excited to open the café this weekend. He said: “We are excited about the opening of the Palm Tree Bistro on Saturday, March 16.

“We have been working hard behind the scenes and developed a wide-ranging menu that will mean there is something to suit everyone. Whether you are looking for a hot meal, snack, sandwich, or salad.”

Dave also added that they wanted to focus on local ingredients including the growth of their own at the nursery.

“Cornwall has some amazing produce and we wanted to showcase that on the menu.”

As previously reported In the Packet, the café will be offering a range of meals including cooked breakfasts, battered fish and chips, roasted honey and mustard ham, egg and chips, burgers and salads to name a few.

The bistro also added that dogs can come into the café, but must be in a designated area inside, they are also welcome anywhere outside including the undercover and outside seating area.

The reopening of the newly refurbished café comes four months after Trevena announced that its previous set-up in the form of the Garden Kitchen Café, would be closing at the end of January 2024.

From now until March 16, the community is invited to join the countdown on social media platforms using the hashtag #PalmTreeBistroCountdown.
