A man remains in a critical condition in hospital today following a crash in Truro on Friday.
Police have now confirmed what happened that left a main road in Truro closed to traffic.
Police cars could be seen blocking one side of the A390, Treyew Road, just before County Hall and Sainsbury's.
There were a number of police vehicles in the road with blue flashing lights, and the pavement has also been blocked off with police tape, preventing pedestrians from passing.
Now police have confirmed that two vehicles collided, leaving one of the drivers with serious injuries.
He was taken to the nearby Royal Cornwall Hospital, where he is said to remain in a critical condition today (Monday).
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "On Friday, March 15, 2024 at approximately 6.40pm hours, a two-vehicle collision occurred on the A390 Treyew Road, Truro outside of Sainsbury’s supermarket.
"The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to Treliske hospital with serious injuries where he remains in a critical condition.
"Police are appealing for witnesses who they have not yet spoken to, to phone 101 or make contact via the Devon and Cornwall Police website."
Traffic monitoring system INRIX reported the closure at the time, saying: “A390 Treyew Road Eastbound closed due to accident from Station Road (Sainsbury's / County Hall Roundabout) to Chapel Hill.”
