The head gardener at Caerhays Castle Gardens in Cornwall has been honoured by the Royal Horticultural Society.

Jaimie Parsons, who has dedicated three decades to the Cornish estate, received an Associate of Honour medal.

The RHS People Awards, which recognises significant contributions to horticulture and gardening, took place on March 26 at the RHS Lindley Hall in London.

Lucinda Rimmington, marketing manager at Caerhays Estate, said: "We couldn't be prouder of Jaimie who continues to dedicate his career to making Caerhays Castle Gardens one of the country's most admired estates.

"It's difficult to put into words how much Jaimie has shaped the landscape here at Caerhays over three decades.

"His sheer hard work and passion is a credit to him, and Jaimie continues to be the biggest inspiration to us all".

Mr Parsons has worked within the astonishing 140-acre garden for 30 years, assisting owner Charles Williams in its constant development.

He began his tenure at Caerhays Estate in 1994, stepping into his role as head gardener just two years later.

Caerhays is internationally renowned for its camellias and rhododendrons.

Its world-famous National Magnolia Collection also contributes highly to its prestige.
