The multi award-winning musical Chicago is coming to Truro as part of a UK and Ireland tour.
Cornwall will welcome the world-famous performance in at the Hall for Cornwall from April 21 to 26, 2025.
Set against the backdrop of the 1920s, the play revolves around Roxie Hart, a housewife turned nightclub dancer who is driven to murder her inconsiderate lover.
In a bid to avoid conviction, Roxie hoodwinks the public, media, and her cellmate Velma Kelly, enlisting the aid of Chicago's shrewdest criminal lawyer.
Her vicious crime is spun into a series of sensational headlines.
Extended UK and Ireland performances of Chicago for the 2024/2025 season have been announced by production houses David Ian for Crossroads Live, in conjunction with esteemed producers Barry and Fran Weissler.
Casting for the show will be announced sooon.
The curtain will rise first at Milton Keynes Theatre on October 12 this year, with full tour dates provided on the show's website.
The musical has been an unmitigated success since its premiere in New York in 1996.
Since then it has attracted an estimated audience of 34 million people worldwide and has played in a total of 38 countries.
It is the creation of John Kander, Bob Fosse and Fred Ebb, all seasoned musical theatre creators, resulted in Chicago.
Its well known score includes the numbers Razzle Dazzle, Cell Block Tango, and All That Jazz.
The musical boasts six Tony Awards, two Oliver Awards and a Grammy, making Chicago the longest-running American musical in Broadway and West End.
The revival the musical on Broadway in 1996 was the handiwork of Ann Reinking, who choreographed the musical in Fosse's style.
Walter Bobbie directed the revival, with Barry and Fran Weissler handling production.
