A brand-new indoor skatepark in Cornwall is set to unveil its state-of-the-art facilities for the first time today.

TR7 Indoor Skatepark CIC will officially open the doors to its new base on Saturday, April 6.

Designed by renowned skatepark architect Trevor Johnston, the 370sq ft park offers an array of elements for skateboarders of all skill levels.

The skatepark, situated near Roche, continues the endeavours of co-founders Martina and Chaz Merryweather.

Following their successful establishment in Newquay, they have continued to expand their operation.

The Merryweathers have constructed a place where individuals from varying backgrounds, including those with learning difficulties and members of the LGBTQ+ community, can come together.

Among the many features of the park, a mini ramp, rails, ledges, hips and an open area for novices.

The innovative harness and rope system, highly popular and successful in their Newquay skatepark, is making a comeback.

This unique feature is designed to make learning to skate risk-free and fun for all.

The Grand Opening Event is set to begin at 12pm today and carry on until 7pm.

Live DJs and professional skaters will be showcasing their skills with performances from 5pm.

Tickets can be purchased on the day - £3 for spectators and £8 for participants.

Skaters' tickets will also include a raffle ticket for a special draw run by Crowdfunder UK, supporting the skatepark's community initiatives.

The Merryweathers have spoken of their gratitude towards the accomplishment, stating that it was the product of community and crowdfunding support, Cornwall Council's Community Levelling Up Programme and numerous other parties.

The skatepark also provides a spectator area, catering to both performers and observers.

A sense of community is the driving force behind the park’s existence.

The park is conveniently located near Roche train station and the A30, making it easily accessible.
