Doom mongers have been urged not to keep putting Redruth down after town centre business Sifar, Redruth revealed it’s just about 'hanging on'.

Helen Griffiths the owner of Sifar, formerly based in Falmouth but now at the top of Fore Street in Redruth, revealed in a Facebook post that she was just about “hanging on in there”.

Her post garnered and outpouring of support, particularly from GrowBox Redruth which urged people not to put the town and stop with all the “Deadruth” comments.

“It's been a tough winter for all the businesses in Redruth, with the ongoing miserable weather, the main pedestrian access to and from one of the car parks closed and the high cost of parking in the town all make the alternative shopping online and out of town an attractive option,” they said.

“Hard times bring people together and that is very visible with the amount of support and community that is growing within the town.

“So please doom mongers, stop with the 'deadruth' and 'another nail in the coffin'. It cuts a little more each time I hear it. We are all fighting hard to create a positive vibrant town which looks both forward with excitement for the future and also remembers fondly the past without getting stuck in it.

“Hang on in there Helen Sifar Redruth we have your back”.

Helen’s post prompted an outpouring of support.

Lynda Thomas posted that she was happy to help organise a girls’ night in the shop to promote sales “Let’s have a girls night in the shop, try on some styles & have a laugh & sales,” she said.

“Have you considered doing some lives showing your beautiful clothes, you are such a character Helen , I’m sure you’ll get a following & online sales too finished work so happy to help/ filming etc.”

Tracy Pascoe said: “Fingers crossed you don't have to close. I love the clothes I've bought from you and fully intend to buy more! Hopefully the weather will improve and you'll get more customers.”
