Police say they have managed to track down a man they previously wanted to speak to in connection with reports of an assault.

Devon and Cornwall Police had appealed for the public’s help in tracing a man described as having "distinctive" face tattoos.

They said inquiries had been made by officers to locate Jamie Monteith, and they were now appealing to the public for information on his whereabouts.

They hoped that with the public's help they would be able to trace the 33-year-old, who is from the Redruth area.

Now Devon and Cornwall Police has confirmed that they have found Jamie Monteith, just short of a month after he was last seen, on March 18.

A spokesperson said on Monday (April 15): “Police have located 33-year-old Jamie Monteith from Redruth, who was wanted in connection with reports of an assault.

“Officers would like to thank the public for their support.”

Monteith had last been seen in Pool, Cornwall and was also described as having links to the Weston-super-Mare area.

Members of the public were asked not to approach him, but to call 999 or contact Crimestoppers.
