Drivers are being warned of a three-day road closure in Helston next month.

Helston Town Council have revealed today (Friday 19) that Church Street will be closed off to traffic from Monday, May 13 to Wednesday, 15.

However, this is not an overnight closure and drivers will be able to access the road before 7.30am and after 6pm each day.

A picture shared by Cornwall Council on its roadworks website page shows the road will be closed from the top of Church Street (opposite the traffic lights in town) and back to the junction of Church Lane by St Michael’s Church.

The road closure is in place for electrical road works to be carried out by the National Grid.

The traffic order states: “This prohibition is necessary for electrical repair works and it is expected that the closure will be from 13th May 2024 to 15th May 2024.

"The prohibition will be in force between the hours of 0730 and 1800, weekdays only. Road affected - Church Street, Helston between the junctions of Willow Mews and Market Place. An alternative route will be signed on-site.”

This is the second road closure to be put in place for Helston over the next couple of weeks.

On Thursday, the Packet reported that Cross Street and Penhellaz Hill will be closed next week for South West Water to carry out work. You can read more about this here: Helston main link road to shut for 24 hours next week
