Bodkin Theatre will perform BIKE at the Carleen Village Hall this May.

The Cornish performance art theatre company is known for specialising in running their own narratives through old and new stories.

Now, they have announced that their latest production will take place on May 18 at 7.30pm.

Penned by Jon Welch, BIKE explores the fragile dynamics of a family, focusing specifically on a teenage girl, Karen, and her detective parents as they attempt to navigate and understand her trauma.

Karen’s struggle to communicate her situation to her parents forms the foundation of the play.

Audiences engage with the main character, Karen, as she interacts with her parents in a series of naturalistic scenes.

Mr Welch's powerful writing paves the way for discussions on a host of issues including parent-child relationships, self-image, and the pressures of modern teenage life.

Despite the profound subject matter, BIKE remains witty and uplifting throughout.

Falmouth Packet:

It has been previously performed by cube theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe, where a reviewer said it was "beautifully realised" and a "piece of perfection".

The reviewer noted the play's ability to draw the audience in with "a light but sure touch" before moving "through the darkest of territory," demonstrating Jon Welch's expertise in handling intricate narratives.

Tickets for the Carleen Village Hall showing of BIKE are available from Dugg, contact number 01736 763 457.

Prices are £10 for adults, £8 for under 18s and a family ticket is priced at £30.
