POLICE have issued an update on an incident that led to weapons being seized from a property.

Police confiscated blades including a sword and an axe from an address following reports of a town centre bouncer being assaulted.

The search was conducted after a doorman was sprayed with incapacitant spray in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A suspect was arrested, with Cheshire Police today, Monday, confirming that a suspect has been released on conditional bail.

Over the weekend, the force’s Warrington Police team said: “One in custody for possession of an incapacitant spray after a member of door staff was sprayed in the face during an incident in the town centre.

“A subsequent search of the suspect's home address recovered these worrying items, which have now all been safely taken into police possession and away from the streets.”

Today, a spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 2.12am on Saturday, April 27, officers in Warrington town centre received reports that a man had sprayed a member of door staff in Barbauld Street with incapacitant spray.

“The 41-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid or gas incapacitation device.

“He was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place after a number of weapons were seized following a search of his address.

“He has been released on conditional bail.”
