Cornish Lithium has provided a quarterly update on its activities since the start of the year.
Having launched numerous projects, the mineral exploration and development company reports headway in both their Trelavour Hard Rock Project and their lithium in geothermal waters projects.
Cornish Lithium’s aspirations place them are at the centre of the United Kingdom’s drive to establish a domestic supply of lithium and other vital metals.
Geothermal efforts are underway at Cross Lanes Farm, previously the site of the company's Twelveheads project.
This site has been selected as suitable for a lithium in geothermal waters Demonstration Plant.
The planning process is already underway, with a community engagement aspect and RSE Shears contracted to undertake the Front End Engineering Design for the project.
Mr Wrathall, interim chairman and CEO of Cornish Lithium, which has its headquarters in Penryn, said: "I am delighted with the strong start to 2024.
"Following our landmark fundraise in August 2023, Cornish Lithium is poised to deliver a number of exciting project milestones over the course of 2024, including the commissioning of our Demonstration Plant at Trelavour".
The company has obtained planning permission for their next exploration site at Tolgus.
Work will commence shortly with drilling set to start in May.
Cornish Lithium also drilled and tested a borehole at the Trelavour Hard Rock Project.
The valuable geological data obtained will be used to refine their subsurface model.
In the domain of hard rock lithium, significant progress has been made on developing their demonstration plant section.
The plant, partially funded via a grant from the UK Government’s Automotive Transformation Fund Scale up Readiness Validation programme, is expected to be ready for commissioning in 2025.
Mr Wrathall added: "We have maintained the pace and momentum of project development across both our geothermal and hard rock lithium projects, and are now making significant progress towards key commercial development decisions in 2025."
In corporate news, Jeremy Wrathall has been appointed as chairman on an interim basis after Ian Cockerill stepped down to focus on his CEO role at Endeavour Mining.
Keith Liddell has rejoined the board as a non-executive director.
Further demonstrating corporate responsibility, Cornish Lithium distributed awards from the 2024 Cornish Lithium Community Fund to 13 local organisations.
Collaborating with the Cornwall Community Foundation, the fund aims to make a positive difference in local areas.
