Miranda Sykes is taking her Out of the Woods solo tour to Penzance this summer.

The multi-talented musician, who began her career playing bass guitar with a country rock band in 1996, is ready to share her new album with her fans in Cornwall.

Out of the Woods is not a casual collection of songs but a compilation that spans her personal journey throughout isolated times, illness, and recovery.

The tracks have been a source of solace for Ms Sykes over the years, and she hopes that they can bring the same comfort to her listeners.

Her career as a performer has been diverse and fulfilling.

After a stint touring and performing at working men's clubs, she joined folk-rock band Pressgang for two years as their bass player.

She then played with a broad range of groups and artists such as Firebrand, Little Johnny England, Robb Johnson, Bill Jones, Steafan Hannigan, Reg Meuross, Kirsty McGee, The Phil Beer Band, Martyn Joseph, and The Scoville Units among others.

In 2004, Ms. Sykes added another feather in her cap, playing in the Show of Hands festival band line-up, replacing Pete Zorn.

This was a role she maintained, in addition to her other commitments, for close to 20 years.

Furthermore, Ms. Sykes made time in her busy schedule for individual projects such as a solo tour and album with the Miranda Sykes Band in 2005; duo album tours with mandolin artist Rex Preston; and two solo albums.

2024 promises further excitement for her fans with a second tour with Hannah Martin, a new Baring-Gould Centenary project with Jim Causley, and more.

Her performance at The Acorn in Penzance, Cornwall is set for June 9 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available for £17 in advance or £19 on the door.
