Plans to charge to park in a Penryn car park have put back by more than a week by Cornwall Council with the facility remaining closed.

Cornwall Council says it has completed the majority of the work at Permarin Car Park and this week the tariff boards, hatch marking, programming of the payment machine and the "have you paid and displayed" signage will be installed.

As a consequence it says it has put the start date of charging in the car park from today (May 21) to Saturday, June 1.

Announcing the change in a post on Facebook, Penryn Town Council said: “We have received the following update from Cornwall Council regarding Permarin Car Park. The majority of the work has been completed including the installation of the payment machine.

“This week, the installation of the tariff boards, hatch marking, programming of the payment machine and the "have you paid and displayed" signage will be installed.

“Charging in the car park has therefore been put back from today and will commence on Saturday 1 June 1, 2024.

The car park will be long stay with the charging period from 9am to 4pm Mon to Sun. Residents season tickets will be available for the car park more details can be found at https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/transport-parking-and-streets/parking/car-park-tickets-and-permits/resident-season-ticket/
