Newquay Zoo is offering a unique deal for certain visitors to celebrate its 55th birthday this month.
The popular Cornish attraction will celebrate the occasion on Sunday, May 26.
To mark it, the zoo is offering free entry for 55-year-olds to Newquay Zoo.
Originally a 1950s seasonal attraction in the Rose Garden neighbourhood of Trenance Gardens, it was relocated in 1969, becoming permanent.
The zoo was managed by the local council for many years before a foray into private ownership in the 1990s.
Since 2003, it has found a home within the Wild Planet Trust, a conservation organisation.
Today, it showcases a diverse assortment of animals, including visayan warty pigs, big-headed turtles, Javan magpies, as well as firm favourites such as ring-tailed lemurs and Humboldt penguins.
This celebration invites anyone born in 1969 to enjoy a day at the zoo on its birthday, May 26, with free entry.
No advanced booking is needed for those eligible; visitors should bring proof of their year of birth such as a driving licence or passport.
Head of Newquay Zoo, Dave Folland said: "We thought that as we are turning 55, that it would be nice to welcome anyone else who is also turning 55 this year to enjoy a day at the zoo on our birthday.
"Newquay Zoo has been delighting and educating people about animals from across the world for 55 years, and we can’t wait to see what the next 55 years will bring."
Patrons should note that although participants benefiting from the birthday offer don't need to book, other visitors are recommended to book online to get the best prices at www.newquayzoo.org.uk.
