MIRACLE Theatre is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a fresh summer production, 'Love Riot'.

Cornwall's long-standing theatre company has entertained audiences throughout the county since 1979.

Their summer spectacular, Love Riot, is said to provide a 'vibrant reimagining' of Hannah Cowley’s classic, The Belle’s Stratagem.

The narrative takes audiences on a comedic rollercoaster of love, scandal, and unexpected events.

Its tale centres around Letty, whose father has arranged for her to wed a man who shows her no interest.

Instead she dares to forge a path of defiance in a bid to avoid a loveless future.

This whirlwind rom-com will be performed at various outdoor venues across the southwest, from May 28 to August 24.

Miracle Theatre started its journey at Pirran Round with a production of The Beginning of the World, based on the Cornish Ordinalia.

Since then, the company has toured 75 times and produced 62 touring theatre productions, including 34 original plays and 28 adaptations.

The artistic director and founder, Bill Scott, explained his vision for the company's future.

He said: "Miracle has come a long way since that first rainy performance in Pirran Round but the company has stuck to its roots, being based in Redruth, by serving the far-flung communities of Cornwall, the Scilly Isles, and the wider Southwest.

"We’ve always relied on creative people who live and work in the area and over the years we have built up a loyal audience of locals as well as providing a spot of culture for the visitors!

"And we’re not slowing down, I'm really excited to see new writers and directors working with Miracle, who will ensure the company continues to develop for the next 45 years too!"

Love Riot received backing from the UK Government's Shared Prosperity Fund via the £132million Good Growth Programme, managed by Cornwall Council.

Tickets for Love Riot are now available with prices starting at £14.

The show welcomes both adults and children, however, it's recommended for those aged seven and upwards.
