Falmouth Town AFC has secured a £3,000 donation from a local housebuilder who is developing land opposite the team's ground.

The generous contribution was presented to club director Malcolm Newland by Persimmon, a prominent developer in the region.

All in the presence of Falmouth mayor Cllr Alan Rowe and deputy mayor Cllr Louise Coley at Bickland Park.

The donation comes from Persimmon's Community Champions fund, that yearly doles out over £700,000 to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain.

Locally, they have supported other important causes like the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

In addition to its charitable deeds, Persimmon has earned a good reputation in the area for developing high-quality residences.

Just recently, they received planning permission for their fourth phase of development from the Cornwall Council, promising to deliver 36 new homes with 13 being transferred to a housing association partner.

As part of the development scheme, Pessimions committed to making financial contributions of over £200,000 for the betterment of the local area.

This is expected to enhance healthcare, education, transport, public open spaces and public rights of way including the Fal and Helford special areas of conservation.

Persimmon Homes Cornwall sales director, Jane Cartwright, spoke highly of the football club.

She said: "The club has been incredibly supportive over the years, and we are proud to support Falmouth Town AFC as it goes from strength to strength, both on and off the field.

"Persimmon is proud to support the club through our Community Champions initiative as we continue to give our backing to local good causes and organisations in Falmouth."

Falmouth Town AFC chairman, Graham Medlin, expressed his gratitude for the contribution, stating: "We’re thrilled to have secured this support from Persimmon – it’s a fantastic boost for our club.

"This support from Persimmon will help us to continue our mission and build a brighter future for Falmouth Town AFC."

This act of generosity to Falmouth Town AFC solidifies Persimmon's commitment to investing in the heart of local communities.
