A Cornwall restautant which is said to have "some of the best fish cookery" in the county has been named among the best sustainable eateries in the UK by the coast.

The Shore Restaurant in Penzance was featured alongside nine others in a list from The Guardian.

Discussing the creation of the list, they wrote: "Looking for ethical and delicious seafood? Here’s our pick of shacks, cafés and shops selling shellfish, seaweed and fish."

What was said about The Shore Restaurant?

The efforts of head chef and owner Bruce Rennie were praised by The Guardian alongside their sustainable sourcing practices for the fish.

They wrote: "Some of the best fish cookery in Cornwall is being done in an unassuming corner restaurant in Penzance.

"Bruce Rennie is a one-man operation, greeting and seating customers, then cooking them dinner.

"Bookings are essential because each morning he chats with buyers at Newlyn market to find out what is fresh."

Rennie believes community building is a key element to responsible fishing and finds it important to look after the balance of the ecosystem.

Speaking to The Guardian, he said: “People should ask about provenance, even down to the boats which landed the fish".

The Shore Restaurant has also been well-received by diners, earning a 5/5 score on Tripadvisor from 632 ratings.
