Residents of Stithians outdid themselves at this year’s Scarecrow Festival.
Less scarecrows than works of art, the creations depicted a variety of books and TV shows.
They included The BFG, the Gruffalo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the Mr Men.
In total there were 42 scarecrows created, which were put on display as a tour around the village.
Hundreds of people came to visit over the course of the weekend, following a map to find them.
All visitors were asked to select their top four, with those receiving the most votes named the winners.
In first place was ‘Scrumdiddlyumptious’, a stunningly accurate depiction of Roald Dahl’s The BFG.
Following the same theme, in second place was The BFG & Sophie, while a lifelike dinosaur ‘Raptor’ came third and Wizarding Fun, showing Harry Potter and Ron Weasley at Platform 9 ¾ was voted fourth.
A record 270 maps were sold, raising 1,547 for local good causes. Those benefiting will be Stithians Rainbows & Brownies, Defibrillator Group and Stithians Energy Group.
The event was organised by Stithians Parish Council and Stithians Show, and sponsored by Feritech Global Ltd.
The organisers said: “What a fantastic weekend, with 42 scarecrows part of this year's Stithians Scarecrow Festival.
“There has been amazing support from village residents and people from further afield with a record 270 maps sold. There's been a real buzz with people, young and old, exploring the village and admiring everyone's amazing creations.
“Well done all concerned. Great effort Stithians.
"The scarecrow makers have excelled themselves this year."
