A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a house fire near Truro last night.
The 46-year-old woman from Threemilestone was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
Katheryn Stone, 46, of Elizabeth Close, Threemilestone, has been charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.
She is due to appear at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 16 August.
Fire crews from Truro, Tolvaddon and Perranporth were called the fire in Elizabeth Court at around 1.10am on Thursday, August 15.
Police were called to Elizabeth Close, Threemilestone in the early hours of Thursday 15 August following reports of a house fire.
When they arrived they found the top floor of the house well alight.
Appliances from Newquay and Falmouth were also sent making it six pumps at the scene.
Firefighters at the scene said: “This was a well-developed fire that had spread to the roof space but good progress was made in extinguishing the fire and stopping fire spreading to the adjacent properties.”
At the height of this incident there were six pumps from Truro, Tolvaddon, Falmouth, and Perranporth, the OSV from Falmouth, the ALP from Newquay, the welfare support vehicle from Perranporth and around 40 firefighters
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus sets used two hose reel jets, one main jet and a 135 ladder and a triple extension ladder to tackle the fire.
By 3.54am it was reported that crews have made good progress and the incident was starting to scale down with crews continuing to monitor for hotspots.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said nobody was inside the house at the time and officers attended to help their fire colleagues.
They said following initial enquiries, the cause of the fire is believed to be suspicious.

“Officers will be conducting reassurance patrols in the area and working with our partners to assist local residents who have been affected by the incident,” they said.
