An Indian takeaway and restaurant in Cornwall has been shortlisted for a prestigious award as one of the best in the south west.
Taste of India on High Cross Street, St Austell has been selected among hundreds of other takeaways and restaurants in this year’s Asian and Restaurant Takeaway Awards (ARTA) shortlist - the only one in Cornwall to be named on the list.
This annual celebration of cuisine in the UK takes place on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at London’s Royal Lancaster, and will see Taste of India compete for the coveted title of Regional Restaurant of the Year for the South West.
Selected from nominations by thousands of customers across the UK, including those of ARTA’s partner ChefOnline, social media, and Food Hygiene Ratings, the St Austell restaurant and takeaway has been recognised for its excellence in craft, creativity, and the taste of its cuisine.
Mohammed Munim, founder and CEO of ARTA highlighted the importance that the awards bring to Asian restaurants in the UK. He said: “Asian restaurants and takeaways have made a significant contribution to the UK economy and both historically and in recent times.
“They deserve recognition and rewards for their efforts.
“To provide staunch support to the thriving Asian restaurants in Britain, ARTA acknowledges and highlights their importance in the culinary landscape. Each nominee is a worthy winner, and we look forward to celebrating with them all at the award ceremony on 6th October.”
