A special concert featuring young professionals from musical theatre and classical music will take centre stage at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth this week.

The event celebrates the Chris Treglown Foundation Fund and showcases a blend of classic songs from beloved musicals.

Established in 2012 in memory of Cornish singer Chris Treglown, who died at the age of 23, the foundation aims to provide vital support for aspiring young singers in Cornwall.

The fund offers financial assistance for musical education and opportunities to perform alongside professionals in concerts and events across the county.

Through workshops and mentorship programs, the foundation nurtures young singers' talents, helping them develop their skills and confidence. Over the years, the fund has also provided younger and older singers the chance to participate in workshops and enhance their skills.

Each year, substantial funds are awarded to Cornish applicants, ensuring that the dream of a musical career remains attainable.

The concert takes place on Friday, August 23, and welcomes guest star Harry Apps, renowned for his performance as Marius in Les Misérables. It will also feature song performances from this year's Chris Treglown Fund Award winners.

The award is open to aspiring singers aged 16 to 28 pursuing a career in classical music or musical theatre. Cornish singers can apply for the Chris Treglown Award in Cornwall, while those from other UK regions can apply for the Chris Treglown Award in Gloucestershire.

Winners receive a monetary award (£1000 or £500) and the opportunity to perform in several concerts and events in Cornwall through MJUK Music & Arts.
