Police have reassured members of the public following reports of an attempted child abduction in Cornwall.
The reports originated from a post shared on social media claiming that a child was abducted.
Police confirmed they were aware of the post and reassured the public that the information it contained was false.
A force spokesperson said: "We are aware of a post on social media that reports an attempted child abduction in Cornwall. We would like to reassure the public that this is not true."
However, the police were called to the Loggans area of Hayle at 7am this morning (Wednesday) to a report of an intoxicated woman attempting to get into nearby cars.
The spokesperson explained: "We were called to the Loggans area of Hayle at 7am this morning, to an intoxicated adult female who had been attempting to get into nearby cars. She has been taken into the care of ambulance staff."
