The National Trust has confirmed it is investigating an incident that happened in the car parks at one of its popular beauty spots.

While details remain unconfirmed, unofficial reports suggest that a six-year-old girl fell into a septic tank in the car park at Kynance and was rescued by her father, with both of them subsequently taken to hospital.

The National Trust confirmed that it was investigating following an "incident" near the visitor car park, on the cliff above the beach at Kynance.

A National Trust spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident involving a child near the visitor car park at Kynance in Cornwall.

“We are still in the process of investigating the incident fully.  In the meantime, our thoughts are with the family involved.”

A member of the public, who does not wish to be named contacted the Packet to say that after the incident, the car park at Kynance Cove had been fenced off.
