Honda has given its popular Civic e:HEV a subtle but meaningful refresh for 2025, sharpening the looks, refining the cabin, and trimming the price – all while keeping the hybrid powertrain that’s made it a favourite among family hatchback buyers.
The Civic nameplate is an icon in Honda’s line-up, and this latest update ensures the 11th-generation model stays competitive against rivals like the Toyota Corolla.
The changes aren’t radical, but they’re enough to keep the Civic feeling fresh as it this generation of the car enters its fourth year on sale.
The most obvious tweaks are at the front. Every grade now sports a redesigned upper and lower grille finished in gloss black, flanked by new headlight garnishes for a sportier, more assertive stance.
The bumper has been re-sculpted with bolder character lines and a body-coloured lower spoiler, giving the Civic a more premium look. Fog lights have disappeared altogether, thanks to improved LED headlight technology that maintains visibility while streamlining the design. New 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels add extra flair – grey for the range-topping Advance trim and black for Sport models.
Colour options have been refreshed too, with a striking new Seabed Blue Pearl replacing Premium Crystal Blue. For those who like to personalise, Honda now offers accessory accent colours in Berlina Black, Nordic Silver, and Patina Bronze.
Inside, the Civic gets a touch more sophistication. All grades now feature a black roof lining and pillars for a more premium ambience, complemented by matte chrome detailing around the air vents. Advance models gain interior illumination and footwell lights, while Sport adds a heated steering wheel – a welcome addition for chilly mornings.
Tech updates include a clearer 10.2-inch digital driver display across the range, while Elegance trim now offers wireless charging as standard. These aren’t headline-grabbing changes, but they enhance what was already a well-designed, practical cabin.
Under the skin, nothing changes – and that’s no bad thing. The Civic continues with Honda’s proven e:HEV system, pairing a 2.0-litre petrol engine with two electric motors for smooth, efficient performance. Combined output is 181bhp and 315Nm of torque, delivered through an e-CVT gearbox. Acceleration remains brisk for a family hatch, with 0–62mph in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 112mph. Fuel economy is impressive too: WLTP figures show up to 56.5mpg combined, while CO₂ emissions start from just 101g/km. For buyers seeking low running costs without sacrificing driving enjoyment, the Civic still hits the sweet spot.
And driving enjoyment is where the Civic really shines. After so many jacked-up crossovers dominating the market, it’s refreshing to get behind the wheel of a low-slung hatchback that feels planted and composed. On twisty B-roads, the Civic shows excellent balance, with minimal body roll and lean through tighter corners. Acceleration is responsive and linear, thanks to the seamless interplay between the petrol engine and electric motors. There’s enough punch to keep keen drivers satisfied, even if outright speed isn’t the Civic’s main mission. Combined with precise steering and a well-tuned chassis, the Civic remains one of the most engaging hybrids in its class.
Honda’s SENSING suite remains standard, offering features like forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, and pedestrian detection. A wide-angle HD camera and high-speed processing chip ensure accurate object recognition in all conditions, while Elegance trim now adds an auto-dimming rear-view mirror for extra convenience. These systems work unobtrusively in the background, adding reassurance without detracting from the driving experience.
Perhaps the most welcome news is the price drop. All three trims are now more than £1,900 cheaper than before. The entry-level Elegance starts at £33,795, Sport at £35,395, and Advance – as tested here – at £38,695. For a car that blends efficiency, practicality, and genuine driving fun, that’s strong value in today’s market.
