After years of welcoming guests from behind the bar and in the kitchen, three familiar faces are stepping forward as the new owners of one of Porthleven’s most loved restaurants.
Longtime team members Jack, Kate and Joe have officially taken over Amélie, stepping into the role of owners after years of working at the restaurant. Familiar faces to many regular customers, Jack and Kate have been part of the front-of-house team for the past decade, while Joe has been ‘cooking up a storm’ in the kitchen for several years.
“Some of you who’ve followed us for a while may recognise Jack and Kate from serving you during a visit over the last ten years, or recognise Joe from cooking up a storm in the kitchen since he started with us, but we’re so happy to now introduce ourselves to you as the new team behind Amélie after being allowed to take it over completely as our own,” the trio said in a post on the Amélie Facebook page.

While Amélie’s legacy has been a firm fixture in the village, Jack, Kate and Joe said they are excited to continue Amélie’s legacy while putting their own stamp on the well-established restaurant. They added: “Over the last 16 years, named after Sam’s daughter, Amélie has grown as an established family restaurant, which is the ethos we want to continue, but with our own stamp.”

Under the new team, Joe will continue to lead the kitchen, serving fresh Mediterranean-style seafood with a strong influence from his Spanish heritage. Kate’s expertise and passion for wine will be reflected in an expanded and updated wine list, alongside her ongoing role in planning weddings hosted at the venue.

Meanwhile, Jack will oversee the front of house, introducing a newly developed cocktail menu and "will be leading the team with the intimate and relaxed service you’ve come to know and love during the last years at Amélie.”
Amélie will reopen on Saturday, February 7, at 5pm, launching a new main menu, followed by Sunday lunch service on February 8. The new owners have invited the local community and returning guests to visit over the opening weekend to support them as they begin this new chapter.
