Traffic lights at one of Helston's key roundabouts are causing delays this afternoon.

Two months of roadworks began at the bottom of Monument Road last Monday, with traffic lights now in place for the remaining duration.

Four-way lights are now in operation at the bottom of The Furry and Monument Road – and these will be there until the end of March.

They also affect traffic on the Porthleven and Penzance roads.

Details on Cornwall Council's roadwork map describe the work taking place as kerbing and safety improvements.

It is being carried out by Cormac, on behalf of Cornwall Council.

Roadworks will be in place at a key Helston roundabout until the end of March

Many people have already reported delays due to multi-way traffic lights in place on the roundabout, with queues expected to get longer at key times such as school drop-off and pick-up, and work rush hour.

While the council’s website indicates it should be completed by Friday, March 27, road signs on the roundabout indicate that work could take up to 12 weeks – and they “apologise for the inconvenience.”
