A beloved Porthleven playpark is set for a dramatic revival as residents rally together to save the Moors Playpark from years of decline.

For years, it has been one of the goes‑to places for young children living in and visiting the village. But now, the much‑loved Moors Playpark has fallen into disrepair and is now in urgent need of refurbishment.

To help bring it back to life, a group of Porthleven residents, working with Porthleven Town Council, has launched a fundraising campaign, including a GoFundMe page.

Professional assessments estimate that £90,000 will be needed to fully redevelop the site. The campaign has already received a strong start, with £15,000 pledged by Porthleven Town Council and £2,000 from the Skateboard Project Committee.

To help bridge the remaining gap, the residents’ group is calling on the wider community to get involved. As of this week, the fundraiser has reached £22,097 of its £30,000 target, supported by 73 donations.

Before any final designs are agreed, a full community consultation will take place to ensure the new playground reflects the needs and wishes of local families.

Organisers say the project is about far more than replacing equipment.

“Now, we’re turning to you, our community, to help raise the remaining funds and make this vision a reality,” they said. “It’s vital that the new playground reflects what the people of Porthleven want and need. This is about creating a safe, inclusive and exciting space where our children can thrive, play and grow.

“Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer. Please share this page and spread the word. Let’s build a park we can all be proud of.”
