A temporary Banking Hub will open in Falmouth this week to ensure residents and businesses continue to have access to face-to-face banking services ahead of the opening of a permanent hub.

The temporary hub will open on Wednesday, April 8, and will operate from Falmouth Town Council offices at The Old Post Office on The Moor.

It will be open Monday to Friday from 9.15am to 5pm. Once the permanent Banking Hub opens, opening hours will be extended slightly to 9am to 5pm.

The facility is designed to replace services lost following local bank branch closures and will allow customers of multiple banks to carry out everyday transactions under one roof.

Services available every weekday will include paying in cash and cheques, withdrawing cash, checking balances, viewing recent transactions and paying some bills.

In addition to counter services, customers will also be able to access more specialised, in-person banking support through a rotating Community Banker service.

Five major banks will each be represented one day a week at the hub to assist customers with more complex queries.

Lloyds customers will be able to speak to a community banker on Mondays, while Barclays will attend on Tuesdays. Santander representatives will be available on Wednesdays, followed by HSBC on Thursdays and NatWest on Fridays.

These sessions will allow customers to get help with issues such as opening new accounts or resolving specific banking queries that cannot be dealt with at the counter.

The temporary hub will remain in operation until the new permanent Banking Hub opens, ensuring continuity of service for the town. The scheme is aimed at maintaining access to essential banking services for individuals, businesses and vulnerable customers who rely on in-person support.
