With anticipation building, McDonald's has confirmed when the new restaurant and drive thru in Helston is expected to open - and it's sooner than you think.
Construction at Helston Business Park has been progressing rapidly, with the restaurant’s signage installed this week. The company has now confirmed that the new restaurant and drive‑thru will open at the beginning of June.
A spokesperson said: “The restaurant is expected to open early June. We will have an official date, as well as supporting photography, closer to the time.”

The news will be welcomed by many in and around Helston, where residents have been waiting years for a McDonald’s to arrive.
However, last month the Packet reported that Cornwall Council’s licensing sub‑committee considered an application from McDonald’s Restaurant Limited for a premises licence at the site. The proposal sought opening hours from 5am to 5am, seven days a week, with late‑night refreshment - hot food and drink -permitted between 11pm and 5am.
Ten written objections were submitted by residents, raising concerns about noise, traffic, littering and potential antisocial behaviour during the night. One representation was made in support of the plans.

Councillors were told there had been no objections from responsible authorities, including Devon and Cornwall Police, environmental health, public health, child protection or the council’s licensing authority.
Representing McDonald’s, licensing barrister Leo Charalambides said the application related solely to late‑night refreshment and confirmed the restaurant would not sell alcohol.
