A busy Porthleven Food Festival weekend took a turn on Friday night when police were forced to issue a dispersal order to a large group of disorderly youths, leading to the arrest of a 16‑year‑old.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that officers were first called on Friday night following reports of a “large group of youths being disorderly” around the harbour head area.
“A dispersal order was issued to move the group on,” a force spokesperson said. “During this process, one of the officers witnessed an assault on a male.
“A 16‑year‑old from Truro was arrested in connection to the assault.”

Police were then called again at around 11.30pm on Saturday, April 25, after receiving a report of a group of people fighting in Torleven Road. During the incident, a member of the public was assaulted while trying to intervene.
“Enquiries into the matter are ongoing,” the spokesperson said.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: " Devon and Cornwall Police engaged with event organisers in the build-up to the festival to ensure a safe event for all of those in attendance across the weekend. Uniformed officers were present in Porthleven over the three days.
"The Force also worked with local schools to send out anti-social behaviour messaging to parents."
The Porthleven Food Festival drew thousands of visitors across the three‑day event, with the majority of the weekend passing without major issues. Police say patrols remained active throughout to support public safety.
