A guitar once played by Julian Bream will take centre stage on a special anniversary tour.
Renowned guitarist and composer Richard Durrant will perform at The Acorn in Penzance on May 8, as part of his 2026 tour, The Art of Levitation.
He said: "Julian Bream was a huge inspiration in my life plus the guy that built this guitar gave me a break - so this is a magical link."
He will play a guitar once used by Bream, who performed on it during his 1956 debut solo album, Spanish Guitar Music.
During each concert, Richard will perform Fandanguillo by Joaquín Turina, a piece featured on Bream’s recording and in Durrant’s own London debut recital 40 years ago.
The guitar was built by guitarist and luthier Hector Quine, who auditioned him for a place at the Royal College of Music.
The tour marks his 40th year as an independent soloist and features 20 performances across the UK and Europe.
It includes music by Scarlatti, Bach, Purcell, Renbourn, Jansch, Barrios, Giuliani, and original works by Richard.
