It’s the moment many Helstonians have been waiting for - the town’s first McDonald’s will officially open this Wednesday (June 3).
After years of calls for a McDonald’s in Helston, the new restaurant at Helston Business Park will open its doors at 11am, offering dine‑in, takeaway, Drive‑Thru, Click & Serve, and McDelivery. It will then move to its regular opening hours of 6am to 11pm, seven days a week.
The 150‑seater restaurant - with 80 seats inside and 70 outside - has created more than 60 new full and part‑time jobs for the local community.

This opening marks the first new build for franchisee Mark Cornish, who has worked at McDonald’s for more than 30 years in roles ranging from crew member to regional director, and later leading the McDelivery team before becoming a franchisee. He now owns and operates three McDonald’s restaurants in Cornwall.
“Becoming a McDonald’s Franchisee was an ambition I have had since I started at the business in 1992, and I am delighted to be opening a brand-new McDonald’s restaurant in Helston,” Mr Cornish said.
