After weather forced organisers to postpone the original date, the Manaccan School PTA’s decision to delay this year’s Colour Run by a week was rewarded with warm sunshine finally breaking through.
The after-school event drew an impressive crowd, with 96 tickets sold and pupils not only from Manaccan but also St Keverne, Coverack, Grade Ruan, Breage and Garras joining the fun.
The PTA said they were “delighted and grateful” for the turnout and the community support that helped make the afternoon such a success.
PTA volunteers spent the day transforming the playing field into a vibrant obstacle course bursting with colour and creativity.
Children gasped as they arrived to find tyres, cargo nets, Nerf-gun and water-pistol stations, a slip-and-slide, and metres of rainbow bunting fluttering in the breeze.
Once signed in, the young runners warmed up with parachute games led by Vikkie Jenking, followed by a lively group stretch to get everyone ready for the main event.
Adding to the excitement, St Keverne Community Fire Station kicked things off by spraying down the runners and keeping the slip-and-slide refreshed throughout the afternoon. The PTA shared its thanks to the crew for their time, energy and enthusiasm.
As the race got underway, parents and Manaccan staff lined the course armed with paint, cheering and showering the runners as they dashed, crawled and slid their way around the obstacles.
By the end, the field was filled with paint-splattered, beaming children – and more than a few equally colourful adults.
The barbecue team – Thomasina, Jo, Chloe, Phoebe and Kerrie – were kept busy serving food to hungry participants, rounding off the event with the smell of sizzling burgers drifting across the field.
