A holiday letting company has donated vital safety equipment to a surf life saving club.
Classic Cottages has gifted a training defibrillator and branded windbreaks, worth nearly £700, to Mawgan Porth Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) to support its work keeping beachgoers safe.
The equipment will help the club deliver defibrillator and first aid training sessions, while also raising its profile on the beach.
Ian Greaves, founder member of Mawgan Porth SLSC, said: "Mawgan Porth is a stunning location but like any beach it comes with its potential dangers, including tides and currents.
"The club’s mission is to spread awareness and educate visitors on ways to improve their water safety.
"As we have qualified Helicopter Emergency Medical Services and paramedic staff in the club, we want to offer training not only to club members but also to the local community, so they will have more confidence if they need to use a defibrillator."
He said the donation from Classic Cottages has made this goal possible.
The defibrillator will support practical training using the fully operational device located outside the nearby Merrymoor Inn.
The club now plans to run summer training sessions on the beach, using the windbreaks to create dedicated learning areas.
Louise Dale, area manager for south Cornwall at Classic Cottages, said: "We are deeply grateful for the vital work of volunteers in surf life saving clubs across Cornwall, and we know our guests are too.
"That’s why we’re delighted to make a practical contribution to enhance the services Mawgan Porth SLSC is able to offer the community and visitors."
Founded only three years ago, Mawgan Porth SLSC already has 80 members.
The equipment donation could also help the club attract wider support for its ongoing £40,000 crowdfunding campaign.
The club plans to build a permanent clubhouse for surf lifesaving and lifeguard training, as well as secure storage for rescue and safety equipment.
Classic Cottages is part of Sapphire Holidays, a Cornwall-based holiday letting group that also owns Aspects Holidays, Boutique Retreats, Unique Hideaways and Island Escapes.
