A choir has returned home after a week of singing on the world stage.
The Celtic Male Ensemble, based in Redruth, performed at the Interceltic Festival in Lorient as part of the Cornish delegation.
The choir took part in five stadium shows, each drawing crowds of 12,000.
Alistair Taylor, musical director, said: "It was a great privilege to be invited to represent Cornwall and the boys did Kernow proud."
The performances formed part of a special commission of The Mermaid of Zennor, written by Gareth Churcher and brought to life by a larger Cornish ensemble including Musical Ensemble Senyans Kernow and sopranos Cheryl Brendish, Maria Heseltine, Jess Norgard, and Lowenna Watkiss.
The show featured dancers from Kekezza and a dramatic appearance by The Bal Maiden, a large illuminated sculpture.
Hugely popular with audiences in Lorient, the wider festival drew 950,000 attendees and the stadium events were broadcast on French television, reaching an estimated 2.5 million viewers.
The ensemble also took part in the festival’s Grand Parade, performing alongside other Cornish groups including Kakezza, Senyans Kernow, the City of Truro Male Voice Choir, Barretts Privateers, singer Will Keating, and Cornish wrestlers.
They were cheered on by a crowd estimated at 80,000.
During the festival, the Celtic Male Ensemble hosted traditional Cornish "shouts" in the festival’s Garden of Cornwall and gave impromptu performances for Lorient Rugby, aboard a boat, in the K Club VIP lounge, and during two afternoon slots on the Place Des Pays Celtes main stage.
The trip was an opportunity to build friendships across the wider Cornish delegation and with Celtic performers from around the world.
The choir is due to perform next at St Ia’s Church in St Ives during the St Ives Festival Week.
