Search the Public Notice PortalCornwall's Harbours Board is looking for three new independent members.
The board, which oversees the operations of all municipal ports and harbours across the county, including Bude, Newquay, Portreath, St Ives, Penzance, Prince of Wales Pier (Falmouth), Penryn, Truro, Portscatho and Portwrinkle, is looking for individuals with specific expertise.
The roles involve managing ports engaged in a variety of activities, including marine leisure, fishing, cargo handling, and ferry services.
The board has 12 members, with six councillors and six independent members.
The new members will be chosen based on their professional knowledge and experience in finance, the fishing industry, or environmental matters affecting the marine environment.
They will be expected to support the sustainable development of the harbours, many of which have environmental designations such as Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
The harbours operate an Environmental Management System with IS014001 accreditation.
The board meets a minimum of five times a year, mostly in Truro.
Successful applicants will receive induction and training, and expenses incurred in the performance of their duties will be reimbursed.
Appointments are for an initial fixed term of three years.
The deadline for applications is Monday, September 21, 2026.
Interviews will be held at Truro Harbour Office in the week commencing October 5, with the exact date to be confirmed.

The Cornwall Harbours Board operates as a formal committee of Cornwall Council and reports to the Full Council.
As well as the main municipal harbours, the board's Maritime Team manages additional maritime assets located at Saltash and Downderry.

Each board member is expected to undertake a logged operational tour of all harbours within three years, and 100 per cent of the Full Council, the Duty Holder, should have undertaken Duty Holder Training.
