A Cornish renewable energy specialist has won two national awards.
ZLC Energy took home the prizes at the 2026 National Energy Efficiency Awards, held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Friday, October 9.
The company, which is based in Liskeard, was named winner of the National Solar PV Project of the Year and National Apprentice of the Year categories, and was also runner-up in the PV Installer and Contractor of the Year award.
Mark Smith, director of ZLC Energy, said: "Winning at the national level confirms what we have been working towards since we started in 2012, which is delivering complex, integrated energy projects to the highest standard.
"This recognition belongs to the whole ZLC team, from our engineers and installers to our apprentices, and to clients like RJAH whose trust made it possible.
"We are proud to be standing among the best in the UK."
The National Solar PV Project of the Year award recognised ZLC Energy’s work at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Shropshire.
The project included a 3MW solar PV scheme installed across all suitable rooftops and carports, 650kWh of battery storage, and a custom energy management system.
This integrated approach is estimated to offset around 75 per cent of the hospital’s grid electricity use, saving £750,000 per year and cutting carbon emissions by around 600 tonnes annually.
The National Apprentice of the Year award went to Raman Mustafa, who was recognised for his professional development and growing contribution to complex energy resilience projects.
His win highlights ZLC Energy’s commitment to workforce development and addressing the skills shortage facing the renewables sector.
ZLC Energy specialises in commercial and public sector renewable energy solutions and has been operating since 2012.
