The trial has opened into one allegation of assault by the man who inherited the Penrose Estate near Helston.
Jordan Adlard-Rogers, aged 38, faces one count of assault inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH), which is alleged to have taken place at the Out Of The Blue pub in Porthleven on July 13, 2024.
Adlard-Rogers denies the charge against him and now faces a jury trial to determine the verdict.
Opening the case at Truro Crown Court this afternoon (Thursday, October 29), prosecutor Zoe Kuyken told the jury that the case involves the defendant punching a man in the pub, causing him to fall, and in doing so the man fractures his leg in two places.
Ms Kuyken said the defendant and the complainant had known each other for some time as acquaintances.
On the date in question, the complainant was out drinking with friends and they went to Out Of The Blue because a band was playing.
When he got there he saw Adlard-Rogers, with the prosecutor saying: “He describes from the outset that Mr Adlard-Rogers was aggressive and shouting at him.”
Ms Kuyken said the complainant describes walking away “on several occasions”, and that the defendant was “trying to get a reaction out of him,” asking him on multiple occasions to go outside with him.
“The next thing [the complainant] remembers was waking up on a chair in the pub,” said the prosecutor.
“He thinks he must have lost consciousness and doesn’t remember having fallen to the floor.”

The prosecutor said that the incident had been captured on CCTV, which would be played to the court tomorrow.
Describing the footage, she said: “There is a disagreement that takes place. [The complainant] brings his face close to the defendant and steps back.
“After he stepped back, the defendant pulls back and swings his fist towards [the complainant] with force, causing him to fall to the ground.”

She said the complainant was taken to hospital in an ambulance and was found to have two fractures to his leg and a swollen lip.
Ms Kuyken said police visited the pub the next day and while they were there Adlard-Rogers pulled up in his car, asking officers: “I’m assuming you’ll want to speak to me?”
He was arrested and in interview read a prepared statement, saying that the complainant threatened him, and he punched him to get him to leave him alone.
The trial continues.
