Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles and his team have been enjoying Truro’s hospitality this morning.

The team from the Radio 1 Breakfast Show arrived in Truro late last night and stayed at the Alverton Manor Hotel, ahead of this morning’s live show from the Radio Cornwall studios.

On air they praised the welcome they had received, with the city’s businesses sending pasties, cookies and beer to their studio.

Breakfast Show producer Aled Jones arrived in the county early and yesterday morning could be found at Falmouth’s Gyllyngvase Beach, giving away a set number of tickets to the Boardmasters festival in Newquay where Chris and the team will be broadcasting from later today.

Chris and his Breakfast Show sidekick Comedy Dave will be performing a “sound clash” and will be joined by the rest of the team, newsreader Dominic, sports newsreader Carrie and other producer Rachel.

Yesterday, Aled told listeners told the listeners about his welcome to Truro and described the staff at the Alverton Manor as “very warm, lovely and friendly,” adding: “They made me feel very welcome.”

Zoe McEwen, conference manager at the Alverton Manor, said: “We’re so excited to have Moylsey staying here and I’m looking forward to meeting them all.”

She said that the team had booked into the hotel’s restaurant for lunch and she was hoping that Chris would sign her copy of his book.

They are in good company today, as snooker commentator Willie Thorne is also staying at the hotel tonight.

“Lots of celebrities choose to stay at the Alverton, particularly if they are performing at the city. I think they like the Cornish charm and our resident ghost!” added Zoe.
