A roofer from the Porthleven area has died after falling from a roof on Kernick Industrial Estate in Penryn. Paul Gibbons, aged 59 was working on the roof at the site when it gave way beneath him and caused the fatal accident.

He was rushed to the Royal Cornwall Hospital but pronounced dead after he arrived.

Detective Sergeant Helen Shears from Falmouth police station said: "He was working on the roof at the time of the incident when it gave way, causing him to fall. He was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital where he was pronounced dead."

Both the police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating what happened.

A spokesman from the Health and Safety Executive confirmed that they were investigating the accident, but were unable to comment further.
