In the run up to Armed Forces Day later this month RNAS Culdrose will be involved in a variety of events around the county.

On Monday personnel from the Helston air base visited Treviglas Community College near Newquay and gave a presentation on life in the armed forces. The presentation was led by Aidan Wood who served for 26 years with the Royal Signals Regiment and is now working at Culdrose in the safety, health and environment department.

On Sunday, June 21 Culdrose's commanding officer, Captain Graeme Mackay, with join officers and ratings from the Helston air base to take part in the Royal British Legion's County Rally in Truro.

All service personnel, from those currently serving to all service families, veterans and recruits will be celebrated that day.

The next day the Armed Forces Flag will be hoisted on the flagpole above the Guildhall in Helston by a forces veteran. Commander Jerry Ovens, executive officer at Culdrose will be there representing the air base and the Royal Navy.

On Friday, June 26, the day before Armed Forces Day, there will be a reception at RNAS Culdrose for invited guests. Captain Mackay will give the guests an insight into some of the aircraft and equipment used at Culdrose and encourage his officers and ratings to get to know more of the local population.
