After seven months lying empty Helston’s former Woolworths store is to reopen to the public on Tuesday.

Discount price department store The Original Factory Shop will open its 115th branch at 9am, bringing 20 new jobs to the area.

The company has invested over £250,000 into the store, which will now offer a range of men’s, ladies’ and children’s clothes, as well as homeware, electrical goods and toiletries.

High street brands will be sold at discounted prices, including makes such as Adidas, Ben Sherman, L’Oreal and Elizabeth Arden.

Area manager Jennifer Wickson said she was confident that the new shop would bring some “much needed retail therapy” to Helston.

She said: “There’s already a real buzz about us opening, with people looking forward to getting genuine bargains. The store will bring great value and unbeatable prices to the town and we’ll quickly become the first ‘one stop shop’ for locals and visitors.”

She predicted that people would be “running down to the store on opening day.”

“Our aim is to be an integral and valuable member of the community – we want to be an active member of it and help and support local people in as many ways as we are able.”

The company is led by Angela Spindler, former boss of Debenhams.
