Pupils from Flushing School got on their bikes on Friday as the latest group of children to take part in the Bikeability scheme.

An update of the old cycling proficiency test, 12 children from the school worked with Mark Trebilcock from the Penryn Sports Partnership to promote safety while out on the roads.

Head teacher Mark French told the Packet: β€œHe trains the children in bicycle safety awareness and how to use their bikes safely on the roads.”

After a session in the playground allowing the youngsters to familiarise themselves with the basics, such as wearing the helmet properly, the children were taken out on the streets of Flushing to practice cycling in their local environment and learn the highway code.
