A Falmouth coastguard manager and a volunteer at the Helford River Children's Sailing Trust are among those honoured in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours List announced today.
John Green, from Falmouth, was made an MBE for voluntary service to the Helford River Children's Sailing Trust, while HM Coastguard search and Rescue communications manager Stephen Huxley, also from Falmouth, was given the same honour.
In Penryn Avril Everett is now an MBE for services to Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service and to the firefighters' charity.
Elsewhere in the area Gitty Ankers, from Truro, was made an MBE for services to the recycling and waste industry, along with Mary Crook, from Truro, for services to young people. Councillor John Thomas, from Redruth, was made an MBE for service to local government in south west Cornwall.
